The Best Sound in the World

Is this...

My new baby's heartbeat!
(Don't worry the cry in the background was Asher, not the new baby!)

Baby Bird
(this is the womb name)
is scheduled to make his/her appearance in this world
around September 1st
give or take a few weeks!

Jon and I are SO excited about this new little
spirit that is coming into our lives. I'm sure Asher
would be too, but I don't think he has any idea
of what is going on or how his life is going
to change in 5 months! But I'm sure he is going to
love to have someone to play with.

I am almost 16 weeks and am finally past the yucky
sick stage and am feeling great. Yesterday I pulled
out the maternity pants because I was tired of feeling
squished into my jeans, and Oh how nice it feels
to have pants on that fit!

I've been a lot more sick with this baby than I was
with Asher-- I can tell already they are going
to be way different children. But now that I am feeling
better I am really enjoying the amazing
privileged of being pregnant. Sometimes I can't believe that
there is a little life growing inside of me. It is amazing.
I am so glad that God thinks we have been doing an okay
enough of a job with Asher that he thinks we can
handle another one!

I am still a little overwhelmed at the idea of having two kids
under the age of two (at least for a few months--
they will be 21 months apart).
But my brother and I are two years apart and
it was SO much fun growing up together.
And babies are life's greatest blessings-- no matter when
God decides to send them. I know our lives will be blessed
by this new little spirit.

It might sound strange, but I've been expecting this baby for awhile.
Only a day or two after Asher was born I had
the distinct impression (and have had it many times since)
that I was going to have another baby
sooner than I was planning. I remember thinking
"Ha, whatever I just had a baby,
I can't be thinking of another one."
But ever since Asher was born I've
been feeling like there was another spirit telling
me he/she was ready to come, and would be coming soon.
So despite my worries about handling two little ragamuffins,
I am feeling such great joy and peace about this
baby and can't wait to meet him/her!

congratulations heather!!! do you want to know something weird? i knew you were pregnant. idon't know why, but every time i've come to check your blog the last few weeks i have expected you to announce you were pregnant. isn't that so bizarre? you are just such a great mom, and maybe it's just your personality or something, but i knew you'd have your kids kind of close, so i'm not even a little surprised. i don't know if that makes any sense...i don't even know you all that well, i just knew. but i am thrilled for you. congrats. will you find out what you're having? keep us posted!

That is a glorious sound. :) I'd say a close second for the "best sound in the world" will be Baby Bird's first cry as he/she makes the grand entrance this summer!

Close-in-age siblings are hard work at first, but they turn out to be a lot of fun. My sister's first two are 16 months apart, my two older sisters are 21 months apart, and my two youngest siblings are 18 months apart. I think the closer in age, the better friends they are (this is the case with my niece and nephew -- they are still best friends at 16 and almost-15)! You have some great times to look forward to. :)

Congratulations, you guys! :) I am so excited for you!!!!!!! :)

Yay! That is the best news I've heard today. Congratulations, Heather, I am thrilled for you...maybe it's a girl...I was sooo sick with Haley, it was miserable, but I'd do it all again too because I love babies! Anyway, maybe you're having a girl!!! (Or another boy would be fab as well:))

Congratulations, Heather! That's great news. If anyone can handle two tiny tykes at once, it's definitely you. ;) Big Bird's lucky to have you.
