How Did Our Grandmothers Do It?

Really, I am in awe of the generations of women who had to use one of these

to fasten their baby's diaper on! I am afraid to think of all the holes my nursling would have poked into him if I had to use these. How do you tackled a 11 month old and make him stay still long enough to use these? Sometimes I can't even get his diaper fastened with the handy little Velcro tabs before he starts crawling away with his little naked bottom wagging back at me. I have a new found respect for my ancestors, and I'm adding Velcro to my list of things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

my mom used those! maybe it was easier because we're all girls or we just weren't particularly antsy babies? i don't remember getting poked much anyway, but then again i don't remember much of anything from the first few years...

I too am thankful for velcro. Also for not having to scrub every diaper. YUCK! Not my kind of fun.

My mom used those too! In fact, I remember helping diaper my little brother and sister, although I was too young to handle the pins. Maybe I helped keep the baby occupied so Mom could get the job done!

I love Snappis and the new generation of cloth diapers. No more pins or rubber pants! :)
