We gave Asher solid food for the first time this week. After this whole biting thing (which he has pretty much stopped doing- whew) I decided that he was probably ready for something a little more substantial. We tried giving him some avocado when we went out to eat for Anna's graduation but he didn't really like it. I think that there were two problems 1) we didn't mash it up enough and he kept trying to gag it out of his mouth and 2) we were trying to use a HUGE metal spoon and I think it was too much for him to handle.
On Saturday we gave him some rice cereal and he LOVED it! He kept trying to attack the spoon and wanted to grab it and feed himself. I think he is going to have that "Mom, I can do it myself" type personality! It was really funny to watch him eat, more of it got on his bib than in his mouth and his face kept getting lower and closer to his tray when he ate. It is really a whole lot of fun to feed him "real" food. Today I think I am going to try giving him some bananas.

Awesome!!! I'm glad he likes the rice cereal! He looks really happy in that first picture! Yay Asher! And I'm Really glad that the biting (mostly) stopped! Hurray for mommy!
We just started Cooper on rice cereal this week, too, and he loves it! He is excited to be eating other feeds and being up with the rest of us at the table at dinner. He also (!) has started biting during nursing :( so I feel your pain on that one. I am hoping he'll stop that before the teeth come in too!
