Things Fall Apart--- at the same time!

Why is it that lately EVERYTHING in my house is falling apart? Three years must be the life span of all our wedding presents, because it seems like all the things Jon and I got when we were married are all starting to fall apart at the same time. First our laptop began to decay. Then all our clothes started to get holes in them or tear out in strange places. Then the mixing bowl on my mixer broke in half (which was actually my fault because I let if fall off the counter while it was spinning... opps). I ingeniously repaired it with epoxy, but it tragically broke back open again in the middle of making bread last week. Now it is beyond even my skillful repair.

Then our vacuum cleaner decided that it had enough of being a normal functioning vacuum and wanted to become magical. It decided that instead of sucking up the dirt on the floor and putting it it's bag like a nice vacuum it would make all the dirt magically disappear and then reappear in a bit fuzz ball in the middle of the closet two days later. I have the strange feeling that when I use it all I am doing is pushing the dirt around to new places. And I am tired of taking it apart every time I use it (which with a toddler is quite often). This is sad because this has been the most WONDERFUL vacuum cleaner and I want it to keep working!

Then to top it all off our shower faucet (which we didn't get for our wedding) started leaking a waterfall about two weeks ago and Jon hasn't had time to fix it. So we have to manually turn the hot water on and off every time we want to use the shower or tub. Which, in all honesty I am getting use to but would sure like to have it work.

Uggg. And the hardest part of the whole situation is that none of these things are cheap to replace-- hence the reason we got them as gifts in the first place! I don't usually stress out about money, but lately as things just keep falling apart it is starting to wear on me. I guess I just need to keep telling myself that I REALLY don't need these things, they are actually just luxuries and that I can survive without them. I can make bread by hand-- that is how it was made for 100s of years. I can keep manually turning on the hot water-- and should just be grateful that I am one of the few people in the world who has instant hot water. I can keep using and refixing the magic vacuum-- even if it doesn't work as well as I want. And I will get the computer situation figured out soon. Deep breath. Okay, life is fine. Another deep breath. Especially when I remember my Dad's fantastic financial advice which is "Anything that can be fixed with money isn't a problem, it is an expense." So really I don't have problems, just expenses and I can handle those-- just have to save my pennies. But if you have extras you don't need-- or a non-magical vacuum cleaner-- send them my way :)

Our magic year was 4.5. And when it rains it pours. One thing goes and then they all start to go. I think our fridge is starting to go right now. :(
