Yeah! The cloth diapers I ordered from Jillian's Drawers (I am trying out their 21 day trial program which you can read more about here) just arrived! And they are SO CUTE! Oh my goodness are they cute. If they work as good as they look-- then I think I might be hooked. Asher is SUPER excited about them and has been carrying them around the house non-stop. We tried one on him and he kept patting his bottom and doing a little happy dance. It was cute (oh! How I wish I had a computer that worked so I could post pictures for you all to see! Hopefully I will soon.) I still have to pre-wash them before he can use them and I am super excited to see how the work out. I got the "gender neutral" colors (greens and yellows), which despite what Jon was fearing, DO NOT look poo and pee colored.
Oh, and yesterday I made my own homemade diaper wipes. I cut up some terry cloth material (or you can use old towels or receiving blankets) into squares the size of baby washcloths (which are almost exactly the same size as a disposable wipe) and then put them in a Tupperware container (or you can put them in an old diaper container) and added:
2 cups water
2 Tbsp baby oil (you can also use olive oil or essential oils)
2 Tbsp baby wash
I made about 10 wipes but I think I could do about twice that many with this recipe because my wipes are super moist. But they smell REALLY good. This way I can just fold up my wipes with the dirty diapers and wash them all together. Just one more thing I won't have to be spending money on-- only to throw away! Yippee!!! We got so many boxes of diaper wipes for Asher's baby showers that I didn't have to go buy wipes until a few months ago, and I was kind of shocked at how much they cost! They add up, considering how many we use!
Anyway, I am pretty excited to try this out. And if we don't like them we can send them back, or I will have some cloth diapers for my 72 hour kits AND will know how to use them.

Yay! I just ordered mine yesterday and am excited to get them and start trying them out. I'm still having shock over how much this investment in cloth diapers will cost initially, but when I stop and realize that within 6 months of diapering 1 child, I will have made up the money, and adding a newborn into that mix...whew! Do you think you'll cloth diaper the new baby? I've read that most of the small sizes don't fit until the baby is closer to 10 pounds, so I might do sposies for the 1st month, I don't want to spend hundreds on newborn cloth to use for only a month or two...decisions...! GL, I can't wait to hear how it goes for you!
I am so excited for you! I want to know how it goes, because we are planning to use cloth whenever we have our first baby.
We haven't bought ONE little thing for the baby yet, but I've had my eye on some cloth diapers for a loooong time now. I'm excited to see your new stash!!! :)
I've always made my own baby wipes. They are the best and my kids rarely get diaper rash. I have a different recipe. Mine has baby lotion in it and I use a roll of paper towel. Cheaper and softer on babies bottoms.
